The twenty-eighth edition of the Gel-Cumulus not only features a refreshed design, but also significant updates to the fit, upper, and midsole.

The upper, as mentioned, has been completely redesigned. It's made of reinforced yet lightweight mesh and is noticeably softer and more flexible than its previous version. Its elasticity, in addition to offering an optimal fit, allows the toes to splay.

The FFBlast+ foam previously found in the midsole has been replaced with FF BlastMax (found in more responsive Asics shoes, such as the Novablast 5).

This foam, in addition to providing cushioning and softness, ensures higher energy return and a smoother ride.

The heel bevel has been redesigned to more effectively dissipate negative vibrations.

The outsole features EVA and rubber for ideal traction. The rubber has a lower density and is present in greater quantities in the heel plug, while the forefoot remains flexible, promoting a smooth push-off.
